comparing Niv to Kjv rev 3:21

Revelation 3:21-22
New International Version
To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
King James Version
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

at face value this verse looks the same! but is it a "right" to sit on the throne of God, or is it a "grant".
the only way a persons sits on the throne, though, is if they "overcome" all things. for jesus the last enemy to overcome was death.
