what about chad hardings excommunication

Some people are made Examples Some people are forgiven and their sins are covered with love and forgiveness. after all it says Love covers a multitude of sins

Once excommunicated, a person can still attend services but is removed from official church rolls, prohibited from receiving the sacrament, entering church temples and performing church callings such as teaching or preaching during meetings. Quote

i remember reading the miracle of forgiveness and for first time reading what spencer kimbal said about men going topless. i was shocked. i dont remember the exact quote but i do know it was prohibited. I also never go topless. in fact for many years i wouldnt wear anything but turtle-necks and I havent gone to a public pool or a swimming hole anywhwere since 1980's. but thats my personal choice.

there are many things that one can condemn.

according to the bible the definition of being naked is halfway up the thigh and over the shoulder.
i went to a relief society meeting and found the sisters teaching their daughters how to make "one" piece swimming suits. there is no difference in nakedness even if a girl wears a one piece suit. and im pretty sure young lds men wear no shirts in P. E classes or Gym. and they wear nothing at all in public but short swim trunks.

this debate has been going on since before the 1920's.

also remember that Nakedness was not a sin in the garden of Eden and God did NOT lust after their nakedness.

other notes:
if an elder wears his garments anything less than that is nakedness
but at the same time an elder can remove his garments for sports activities, at least according to one source.
the elders of ancient israel also practiced "looking at naked girls to confirm their virginity"
when men go topless, it has often been a greater symptom of homosexuality.
i think excommunication was too harsh, but than again I have said adulterers should not be given the office of elder in the priesthood. but that can be wrong too. Joseph smith forgave greater sins than these before he excommunicated men. and women in relief society should reconsider their positions on wearing swimsuits
if its ok to go topless for lds males at beaches and playing in sports without a shirt or to take public showers than a world wide decree should be made that reproves all its members. not just excommunicate one member.
of course chad is described as being 6th generation Lds.
and he did make profit from an unchaste naked photo calendar. the church might be looking at how he keeps the money or not or how he recalls all the calendars.

i received 3 thumbs down so far i wonder if it was because of a homosexual or because of uneducated lds or just flat out antimormon

The creator of a calendar featuring pictures of bare-chested Mormon missionaries has been excommunicated after a disciplinary meeting with local church leaders in Las Vegas.

Chad Hardy, 31, said he accepted the decision and had "no ill feelings" towards the council of elders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"I felt like I spoke my truth," the Las Vegas-based life-long Mormon said. "Bottom line, they still felt the calendar is inappropriate and not the image that the church wants to have."

More than 10,000 copies of the $14.99 calendar entitled Men on a Mission have been sold since its launch last year. It includes portraits of 12 topless missionaries wearing black trousers in modest poses.

The men also were photographed in traditional missionary garb and discuss their religious beliefs in brief biographies.

The 2008 calendar has generated widespread interest with word of it spreading via social networking websites. Hardy has come under attack for depicting missionaries as "sex symbols" and contradicting church teachings that promote modesty.

Others, meanwhile, have welcomed his attempt to give young Mormon men a new image.

Some of the 12 models have also been called to disciplinary meetings but none have been punished.

Mr Hardy, a sixth-generation Mormon whose parents live in Utah, said the church council had done "what they believed was right and I really do feel it was the best decision for both of us."

He added that the calendar had not aimed to insult the church or its 13 million members.

"The project is about stepping outside the stereotypes and stepping outside of the image," he said. "Not everybody fits the image and I let them know we're not trying to portray an image for the entire church."

On his MySpace page, where he introduces himself as "Chad - the producer of the infamous Men on a Mission calendar", Hardy writes he was inspired to create the "humorous 'beefcake' calendar" in part to provoke dialogue about his and other faiths.

"In all seriousness, this calendar has created a really cool phenomenon. It has created interfaith dialogue all over the world," he writes.

"The men in the calendar have reached out to the world in a brave and bold way without the intention to convert anyone, except present a message of friendship and tolerance - and show that they are imperfect and human just like everyone else. (And can have a sense of humour about their religion)."

He adds that he plans to "continue to stand up for what I believe in" and "the 2009 Calendar will go on sale September 1, and each year following as long as we have people that will buy it and support the cause."

Frank E Davie, leader of a group of Mormon congregations in the Las Vegas area, confirmed the 12-member council's decision but would not comment further.

Once excommunicated, a person can still attend services but is removed from official church rolls, prohibited from receiving the sacrament, entering church temples and performing church callings such as teaching or preaching during meetings.
